When we left you last night, it was with the breaking news that a 17 year old had been killed in Belize City.

Tonight new details are emerging in murder of that teenager, Gerald Tillet Jr.

The young man who was said to be shot at up to 7 times, and was fatally wounded by a shot to the back.

For the Tillet family, it's the third devastating loss in less than a decade, and one that's left them too stunned to speak. Here's more:

First, it was Sheldon Pinky Tillett in 2012. Then it was his brother Gerald Shiny Tillett in April of 2016 when the gang boss was slain in the south. You'd think that the Tillett family had seen enough violence for several lifetimes.

Sadly that wasn't the case and last night at around 6:48 pm. Shiny's Jr., another Gerald Tillett got a bullet to the back while riding his bike down Baghdad street.

It's a legacy of savagery and murder that the cops believe could lead to retaliation all-out gang warfare.

But this morning when we spoke to Gerald Jr.'s godmother there was no sentiment of revenge. Just the memory of a child she had watched grow, becoming almost a man.

Edith "Ms. Yow" Myvette, Gerald's Godmother
"We always say only the good die young. He is in a better place than all of us right now."

"He, the only reason he went to jail was for when they locked you down for state of emergency or crime prevention and he didn't go to jail he went to boot camp Gerald would have turned 18 next month, on the 17th of June he would have turned 18."

"And he wouldn't stand up and let anyone chance him either, so I'm not angry with him. You don't stand there and let others take advantage of you, take advantage of your family cause if that young man could have done better. He would have done it."

"Now I know you were on the scene last night, describe to me what you met when you got out there?"

Edith "Ms. Yow" Myvette, Gerald's Godmother
"Well, when we got onto the scene they already had him on the ground already then we were behind the crime scene, the tape. We had to wait until Mr. Sanchez had done his investigation on the crime scene and the forensic team then the mother identified the body and I told them that I was a godparent too."

"So he said alright then just wait until then and we'll come back but I made my comadre Ms. Jenelle went on the other side of the scene and identified the body, but when we identified the body we noticed that he had been shot from back on, from back on because the distance that his bicycle was at and his slippers. He had already seen what was going to happen and then he started to run."

An account from one neighbor is that the gunman then ran off into a nearby alley. She says that's the direction Gerald Jr. had turned to look as he took his last breaths.

Cherisse Halsall:
"Ma'am people were saying that he was riding his bike through quote-unquote enemy territory but was he was in enemy territory? because we know that he used to ride through that street all the time."

Edith "Ms. Yow" Myvette, Gerald's Godmother
"People are saying you will hear a lot of ups and downs right now. A lot of speculation is around right now because I'll be real one spell you hear it was because of a young girl too, next spell you hear it's a phone call, next minute your hearing he knows he didn't belong back there because they and this side here were going through problems. That's what people are saying so I'll just say you'll hear all kinds of things right now. Only God could tell you what happened in that situation there."

"No because your dad was a gang affiliate group, means that they were supposed to chance you like that because everybody has their days like this, their days are counted. But in the eyes of the beholder up there we will get justice. Not by violence but by God. We will pray every day, every day. I will get up and I will pray for my comadre to be strong."

But all the strength in the world won't return this young man to his grieving mother. And during our interview, Ms. Yow, who is Gerald's mother's closest friend, also told us how close-knit the Gillett family had been.

Edith "Ms. Yow" Myvette, Gerald's Godmother
"He was loved, he was loved by his mother and by his father and his sister Geraldisha, they were very close. They were very very very close. I love him because it's my godkid. I loved him too."

The Family has also expressed concern about whether the police should have made an attempt to rush Tillett to the hospital.
