And the BNTU president told us that they are also looking over the legislation and will be discussing the promissory notes with their members. Still, they are determined to remain on strike until they arrive at a satisfactory resolution. But last night the prime minister said they're not having that much of an impact. Here's how Elena Smith responded.
Elena Smith, President, BNTU
"The good governance we have already informed them of that so they're aware of that, our council met last night, they are aware of those as well, so the only thing that we need to take back to our membership now is the matter of the promissory note that we have more details now that we can share with our members."
"We have said and we continue to say that until we have those agreements in writing and we can sign off on them then that is when we would be willing if there is an agreement to back off on the strike."
"If it is that we don't have majority support, and what it is that we are doing has no impact on him or his ministers then why did they present to us those two drafts? Doesn't make sense right?"
