Car Dealer Charged For Murder

On Monday we told you about the murder of Placencia resident Ian Westby in Belize City. It happened at about 11;40 on Sunday morning at the corner of Peter Seco street and Tranquil Lane.

Westby was found dead, slumped over in the driver's side of his Uncle's Kia Soul, mere moments after he'd been seen walking with a man who he was familiar with. That man would become the prime suspect in his death.

And tonight police believe they've identified him to be 37-year-old Leon Garcia, a car dealer from Belize city.

Garcia was arraigned before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford this morning and read a single charge of murder. Due to the nature of his offense, no plea was taken and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 22, 2021.
