Are you one of those people who clap when an airplane lands? It's an activity that, as of late, garners some degree of public shaming.

But if that's you, you might just be expressing, relief, gratitude, or praise.

And, while your fellow passengers might roll their eyes, that praise is still very much deserved by the pilot, crew, and the air traffic controllers who ensured that your landing was a success.

Today on World Civil Aviation Day we learned a bit more about the field as well as the joys and challenges experienced by the rare Belizean who stands in that flight tower. Here's more.

A release from the Belize Department of Civil aviation tonight says quote: " The pandemic, has put a strain on world aviation systems and their respective human capacity like never before, and Belize is no different. But despite the challenges, these professional men and women we call air traffic controllers have continued working tirelessly, day in and day out to keep our skies safe. " End quote.
