And while this judgement has reopened old wounds for Major's loved ones, a family in Dangriga is waiting to see if the justice system will work out in their favor after the murder of 33-year-old Emerson Nunez.

Nunez was shot three times early this morning, not far from his house. His family explained that he had detoured from his normal routine, choosing to leave his home late at night. But they also believe that he was set up and someone had planned his death.

Courtney Menzies went south and spoke with them today. Here is that story:

This small mound of sand marks the spot where 33-year-old Emerson Nunez took his last breath. Nunez was shot three times around 1 this morning as he walked the Dangriga streets.

Nunez was a well-known resident, with a large family who gathered in their yard to reminisce. One cousin paid a last homage to him, by sprinkling the dust on the spot where his body had been.

His other cousin, who chose to remain anonymous, said that their family has more questions than answers, but they believed he was lured to his death.

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"We got the understand that he was walking with two individuals, we donate now if they are male or female but two individuals. Apparently, those two individuals passed from our house and then they walked along with him."

Courtney Menzies:
"And is he somebody who normally takes walks like this so late in the night?"

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"He takes walks but not late in the night. Not late in the night. And he will never walk town with strangers. Either somebody he knows, or relatives."

Courtney Menzies:
"So this whole thing was sort of unusual for him?"

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"Yes, this late walking, unusual. Very, very unusual for him."

Courtney Menzies:
"So do you suspect that somebody might have lured him out?"

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"Yes, because like what I said, he wouldn't walk with strangers. Right so, we believe it is somebody he knows and he knows that person very well why he took that walk. Especially around that time. So, he was lured to his death."

But they don't know why someone would target him since Nunez was a family man:

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"No, no reason at all why they took his life. If you have a, whatever with anybody, what we call beef with anybody, talk it out. Hand and hand, don't just shoot somebody because everybody have loved one outside. We have loved ones, and then now, my aunty is suffering, losing her son, you know, so that's it."

Courtney Menzies:
"And he's not the kind of person who gets violent?"

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"Not to gun extent. When he drinks, he talks a lot and then bedtime. We talk to him, you know, outside doesn't have anything for us. Hang out with the family, like we usually do on Sundays. Yesterday, he was here hanging out with the family because it's our routine, every Sunday we hang out with our family."

But, according to the police, it seems Nunez's murder stemmed from an argument he was having with the men who had accompanied him.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"Nunez was in the company of two other male persons sometime around midnight and these male persons exited his home and he was with them. The neighbors had seen and heard a loud argument between these three men and then they heard what appeared to be gunshots. When police arrived on the scene Nunez was seen to be suffering from body injuries consistent with that of bullet wounds, no."

And the Nunez Family says they'll wait and see who will be charged at the end of the police's investigation. Until then, they'll miss his help around the house, and his dance moves.

Voice of: Cousin of Deceased
"He's a very handy man in our community, especially with his family. He had a job to do this morning so the two persons that he was supposed to go and work with, they were waiting until they received the news, because he's a handyman. Very, well, for us, he's a dancer. Always the life of the party, whenever we have any occasion, bet he will be on the dance floor. He always runs joke but he also discipline the younger children too. You know, so those are great memories that we will always remember about our cousin."

Nunez didn't have any children.
