But, as police demonstrated in a recent arrest for murder - they don't even need to heave the weapon to prove a ballistics match. That's because, each gun, when it is licensed, is required to fire a test round for the police ballistics archive. And when an expended shell or a bullet fragment comes up in a crime, the forensics lab can confirm a match even if police don't have the weapon.

That's just what happened in the double murder charge of Winfield Mortis from Belize City, and his alleged accomplice, Edward Moraga. Both are accused of killing their former boss, club owner Elvin Polanco on San Pedro on November 19th. Yesterday, we asked the commissioner about the unusual circumstances of the arrest:
