As we told you last night, Chairman of the Leadership Intervention Unit, William Dawson died on Wednesday morning after a relatively brief illness. And he has been laureled with praises for the important work he did in gang interventions and pacemaking in the city.
But, last night around 6:30 when shots rang out around his home between Pelican and Seagull Streets - understandably, it caused an alarm in the neighborhood. Reports say a silver vehicle pulled up in front of the residence of deceased William Dawson and fired several shots in the air and left towards the Boulevard no one was injured.
Police found 8 expended shells on the scene and detained two licensed gun holders - reportedly friends of Dawson - one of them a city councillor.
So, it seems it was not a threat to his family, but a street version of a gun salute. Still, the Commissioner says they intend to find out who's responsible:
We note that the two men were released, reportedly with their firearms - though the commissioner claims those were held.
