Switching to crime news now, a man in Armenia Village was tied up and his home burglarized this past weekend by two men wearing imitation police uniforms. He saw their vehicle parked in front of his house but thought it was for his neighbor, so he went inside his house. That's when the burglars sprang on him and bound him with duct tape. The police told us more.
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"On the 3rd of February 2023, Jose Gonzalez reported that he arrived home and saw a vehicle in front of his house. He then entered his residence where he was held up by two persons who were dressed as police officers. They proceeded to tie him up and they ransacked the house and stole several items and an amount of cash. The persons then fled from the area, police are investigating this matter, at this time we have no suspects."
Courtney Menzies:
"Any ideas where they might have gotten the uniforms?"
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"We do not know, no."
"They were in the number 1 police uniforms, so yes, that is an offense, if we find anyone wearing the uniform who is not a police officer, they will be charged."
Courtney Menzies:
"How did they gain entry into the house?"
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"They pried one of the doors open."
The burglars stole a TV, a cellphone, 10 bags of fertilizer, a shotgun, and a total of over $13,000.
