Last night we told you about the fatal accident that claimed the life of a 28 year old man riding a motorcycle. It happened on Saturday night at 7:30 near camp Belizario in Cayo, when William Swan - who is a 56 year old Captain of the Belize Defence Force Specialist Reserves - crashed head on into Usher - flinging him off to the shoulder of the George Price highway and killing him on the spot.
Swan was driving a Department of Youth Service pickup. He has been charged with Manslaughter By Negligence, Causing Death By Careless Conduct, Failed To Give Way To Motor Vehicle On A Major Road, Drove Motor Vehicle Without Due Care And Attention. He was granted bail in the sum of $6,000 dollars.
Eyewitnesses claimed that Swan was in the motorcycle's lane - which the charges seem to support.
Swan reportedly works with the Ministry of Youth in setting up the Youth Program in the MPR area.
