And a special constable was also in court today after he was convicted of having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old minor back in 2018.
Jeremy Bermudez, who is attached to precinct 1, allegedly engaged in the sexual acts with the minor for one year, until she was 15. The minor testified that Bermudez had sexual intercourse with her eight times from May 2018 to December 2019.
Bermudez was represented by attorney Ian Gray when he appeared in front of Justice Antoinette Moore in Belmopan. Out of the 8 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse he had originally been charged for, Justice Moore found him guilty of 5.
He was remanded to prison, and will be back in court for sentencing on April 18th.
