Earlier this week we told you about the 23 year old Bus driver who knocked down and killed 38 year old Gabriel Mai. Mai was riding his bicycle in the Milpa area of Ladyville on Sunday September 21st. That bus driver, Phillip Roy Sutherland, an employee of Central Transit Bus line, appeared in court today where he was read four indictable traffic offenses including manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving a motor vehicle without the doors being properly closed. That charge arises because Mai ended up trapped in the door of the bus which was open. He then fell to the pavement and was run over by the bus.

Due to the nature of the offenses no plea was taken, and the Magistrate offered him bail in the sum of $7,000. Sutherland was represented by Attorney Norman Rodriguez, and is expected to be back in court on November 17, 2025.
