Last week Thursday and Friday when the rains in the city were heavy - we received videos showing how it was pouring down through a leaky roof at the KHMH. The rain had also saturated the drop ceiling and was sending a steady stream of water into the hallway - as hospital staff kept placing buckets and mopping up the mess.
CEO Chandra Nisbet Cansino told us they are in the process of fixing the roof, one piece at a time but conceded there is only so much she can do with $100,000 dollars monthly to run the entire hospital. She says the cost of fixing the roof on the 30 plus year old structure is close to $2 million dollars. She did say that while the structure was leaking it did not affect any of the patients or the staff. We are told the leaks continued this week.
