And turning now to another medical profession...
They do more than count pills behind a counter and decipher doctor's handwriting on a prescription note, pharmacists are the guides towards a patient's recovery. And that's why World Pharmacist Day was created, to celebrate them. We stopped by the KHMH's Pharmacy, where they celebrated the day by honoring their colleagues, and the memory of those who have passed on already. Here's that story.

Beverly Coleman, Acting Manager, KHMH, Marisol G Mehaldo Pharmacy
"This year's theme for pharmacy week is think health, think pharmacists and that is simply to emphasize the job that we do, a healthcare system without pharmacy or pharmacists the costs is not only financial but also human. We serve a very important role and we believe that pharmacists are the most accessible members of the healthcare team, patients will tell us information that they would not necessarily tell their Doctors and I think it is because of who are what we do and we appreciate when they would tell us or disclose information to us and then we could get them or refer them back to their Doctors for the proper course of care but we do appreciate that we are the most accessible because of that, we play a great role and we always say that people see us in our jobs and they think we wear a white coat and we just basically count pills but our work is far more than that."
"Our shirts this year as it says world pharmacy day September 25th 2025 at the bottom we have the theme for this year's celebrations think health, think pharmacists, and in the middle we have our mortar and pestle which is basically the universal symbol for pharmacies and pharmacists and in that we have our cancer warriors. We have 3 pharmacists practicing pharmacists who are presently battling cancer and the other 2 names Maritza Acevedo and Desiree Thompson they are not pharmacists but they are mothers of 2 of my staff members."
"On my right sleeve I have the name Kingsley Estell. He was one of my staff members. He was a part of what we call our Pharmily here at this pharmacy and sadly he passed away from Cancer earlier this year. And on the other sleeve I have the name Adelita Gillette. She was a pharmacist, did not work with us, she worked at James Brodies Ltd but she was super close to the pharmacy here and always made sure that she supported us in any way possible. Sadly we lost her to senseless gun violence earlier this year as well so this year we chose to honor our people on our shirts."
