Tonight, a Belize City taxi driver is behind bars after being accused of engaging in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl. Thirty-year-old Ashton Gill, of #44 Saint Thomas Street, was arraigned today before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in the Belize City Magistrate's Court on two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
Gill appeared unrepresented in court, where no plea was taken since the charges are indictable. Due to the seriousness of the offence, bail was denied, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until November 21, 2025.
The allegations against Gill are that on September 8th, 2025, he had sexual intercourse with the minor at the Cloud 9 Hotel on the George Price Highway. It's further alleged that two days later, on September 10th, he again engaged in sexual activity with the same girl at a residence on Belize City's Northside.
