By now most of the public has seen the video of the person driving a Mazda Miata convertible doing donuts on Princess Margaret Drive, blatantly violating any number of traffic laws.
Today we spoke with the enforcement manager from the Belize City Council about the incident and what they are doing to enforce traffic laws within that strip where traffic-wise, things can get pretty wild on weekends.
Mauricio Gonzalez, Enforcement Manager, Belize City Council

"First off, it is reckless driving; it is internal aggressive maneuvering that could result in an accident so it is really not something we would like to see on our public roadways."
"Just like other tips that we get normally when we receive these types of concerns from residents we do targeted enforcement operations in the area we have done it before we have been on the highway when they told us about the motorcycles doing stunts. We have been in front of Thirsty Thursday when a similar video was posted on Facebook with the person that actually dropped off the motorcycle and now we have this video circulating again. We are still in the Thirsty Thursday area it is just so unfortunate that we were not there at the corner of Princess Margaret drive and Baymen Avenue when this was happening but we are in the Thirsty Thursday area, 9th street and Barrack Road because we are still doing monitoring for the motorcycles doing stunts. It just so happens that when enforcement is around these types of practices don't occur it is when we are not there they take the risk and do these types of maneuvering."
"The video can be used as evidence come against this driver, apart from that with constant enforcing and visible patrols we are hoping to curb whatever behaviors is trying to start with these motorists. It is all about safety and we have to think about the safety of not only ourselves but the people around us and these deliberate, maneuvering aggressive maneuvering it is an unsafe practice I mean you are putting yourself you are putting residents you are putting pedestrians and you are putting even property at risk so I would want to discourage them from doing any such maneuvering."
