The Garifuna Nation is publicly showing respect to the contributions of the Late Dr. Theodore Aranda.
He's remembered fondly as a patriot, a visionary leader, and a staunch advocate for the welfare of his constituents as an elected politician.
Well, the Garifuna Nation says that he was all of that, but he was also an activist on behalf of the rights of the Garifuna people. In fact, they say that some of his views helped to form some of the principles that the Garifuna Nation still keeps as a guide.
In a late-night zoom interview, several members of the organization spoke with our Daniel Ortiz about this "soldier for the Garifuna cause":
Aranda died on Sunday, July 10th, at the age of 88.
