But aside from salaries, there is also reported to be a high turnover rate at the center. We also asked the minister about this and she says it stems from transportation issues and the need for staff to work on shifts.

Thea Garcia, Corozal Bay Area Rep

"I think the institution does face some turnover but I think transportation it is kind of in the middle, in Hattieville its not in Belmopan it is kind of in the middle so transportation and the facility has to be manned 24 hours and they are on shift so sometimes there is a problem with getting people to work particularly on holidays, you know sometimes the buses don't run very regularly when it is on the weekend or a public and bank holiday. And so we have that problem. We have begun to try to advocate for more resources particularly for vehicles so that we would be able to ensure that our staff would be able to get to work on time and get to work at all because it is quite difficult, new beginnings being geographically where it is, it posses some problems."
