The Belize Audubon Society will be holding its annual general meeting tomorrow. That's hardly news, but what makes it interesting is that instead of confining members of the conservation group to air-conditioned conference rooms, the Audubon is taking its AGM into the wild. Today Executive Director of BAS, Anna Hoare explained why the AGM is being held at the Guanacaste National Park in Belmopan.
Anna Hoare,
"For the first time we will be celebrating this, conducting this meeting at one of the national parks. We will be doing, the first part of the morning we will be conducting the business section of that meeting, that means we will be having the president's report, the executive director's report, the financial report, and the election of our officers. After that we will be providing lunch and then we have planned a whole lot of other activities such as swimming, kayaking, hiking, bird watching, and those kind of activities. So really it is different because we are involving our members in nature activities and that is what Belize Audubon Society is all about. We want to make sure that people do understand what BAS is all about, which is working for the environment, about the environment, and in the environment."
Transportation leaves to and from Belize City tomorrow morning from the Belize Audubon Society's office.
