And back in Belize, a project dubbed, "Enhancing Adaption Planning And Increasing Climate Resilience In The Coastal Zone And Fisheries Sector Of Belize" has officially been launched. It's a collaborative effort between the Ministries of Economic Development and the Blue Economy, The Fisheries Department, The Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute and the National MET Service and is financed by the Green Climate Fund.

The goal of this project is to ensure that the coastal zone and fisheries sectors of Belize are more resilient to climate change impacts. This includes improvement of the data and information systems related to climate change and the development of a comprehensive adaptation plan for the sectors. The duration of the project is 18 months.

And while all that sounds promising - it seems like an overpriced expedition. According to a release, the activities will include two forums, ten training/workshops, and 19 consultations with an overall participation and training of 401 persons. This doesn't seem like much considering that the total grant financing by the Green Climate Fund is 600,000 US dollars - or 1.2 million Belize dollars. That's a whole lot of money for a bunch of workshops and - we reached out to the Minister of the Blue Economy to ask about this, but up to news time, he had not responded.
