And while the Ministry of the Blue Economy re-planted mangroves the Minister of Sustainable Development was drafting his Earth Day message for the masses.
Here's some of what he had to say about honouring the achievements of Belize's environmental movement and taking a moment to focus and invest in the planet:
Orlando Habet, Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management
"Investing in our planet and promoting a green Belize will only be attainable by having an all-inclusive approach where businesses, governments, and citizens are all accounted for, everyone accountable. It is time to choose both a prosperous and sustainable future and time to not only preserve but to also restore and build a healthy planet for all to enjoy. Let us redirect our attention to creating a 21st-century economy that brings back the healing and health of our planet, that protects all our species including our own and provides opportunities for everyone. It is time for a partnership for the planet. The Ministry of sustainable development will continue to take action and encourages businesses to also do their part in investing in our planet, by promoting cleaner production practices, use of innovative technology to maximize the use of natural resources, thus increasing output and producing less waste by investing in our planet is a win-win situation there is only one earth."
