And as part of Caye Caulker's prep for Easter holiday chairlady Pott says they have been doing their best to clean the beaches and keep them sargassum free. She explained though that they've hit an obstacle recently in their cleanup.
Seleny Villanueva Pott, Chair Person, Caye Caulker Village Council

"The Sargassum it is a little bit hard to deal with, we do have a beach raker and unfortunately we had a part that has been corroded. We sent it to get fixed out in Spanish look out so we are hoping that, that is fixed by the end of the day with those beach rakers the amount of work and sargassum it collects for the day cannot compare to the man power so we are hoping top have it up and running before the end of the day to try and keep the island clean but we have never seen it in this magnitude I believe it is all across the country that is reporting the same thing. It is so unfortunate that it came so early and I am hoping that we can have cleaner beaches for this weekend."
