And in other news, we told you that villagers of Sarteneja held a protest on Saturday after learning that a PUP minister was attempting to parcel off their seafront property. The Sarteneja Alliance For Conservation And Development had sent a letter to the Natural Resources Minister, Cordel Hyde, expressing concern that there was, quote, "land grabbing of public spaces within the Warrie Bight Area." Today, we asked the Area representative for Corozal South East about this. Here's how he responded.
Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defense

"Yes I saw it like you guys on Facebook as well and we have been on top of that I have been from long before speaking with deputy prime minister and the minister of natural resources and we never allowed any land or any documents to be given out to any private owner you know public lands I am referring to and I believe as I mentioned yesterday, public lands will remain public lands."
JO-
"So you support their cause?"
Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defense
"I mean I am the one who spearheaded that cause to block any private acquisition of public lands, I mean of course you know we are always looking for land to give out to the community. And if you notice that throughout the country we do need to provide more lands for people to have their housing and all of that stuff so yeah we have been on top of it."
We'll keep following this story.
