A young mother had triplets on Sunday at the KHMH. She is 23-year-old Leticia Pott from Caye Caulker Village. She says she’s the first mother on Caye Caulker to have triplets and it came as a surprise to even her.

“I started to ketch pain and they had to take me to emergency for the c-section without expecting it was three. I was expecting twins but then when I was out from the c-section they told me three. So I can’t do anything.”
Israel Arana, Father
“I got shocked, I couldn’t even say anything.”
And now this young couple – the father is 18 and the mother is 23 from Caye Caulker know there are difficult days ahead.
Israel Arana,
“Right now what the nurse is trying to do is to, because like the little boy was breathing faster than normal but the little girls are alriight because they are already feeding but the little boy is the concern right now because I know he is not feeding with milk yet and they are trying to tend to him.”
And while it’s a tough time right now for these tiny newborns, looking ahead this proud couple is looking to the future.

“To grow three of them all together. We have to do expenses with pampers, milk, and if they get sick – all of that I am thinking about right now so but anyway in God we trust and I think we will be able to go ahead with them.”
Israel Arana,
“Sometimes I want to cry and all when I see them in there but I just want them to get out safe and make I can take them home and have a life with them.”
As for names, the girls will be called Celeste and Celesety, and the boy, Celestino. The couple already had one child. Anyone wanting to help them can call 624-3545.
