The Belize City Council has announced that another staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.
This employee's positive test was confirmed yesterday during the national holiday, and that's when Council decided that the City Hall's entire second floor would be closed. The second floor was not opened for business today, and it will remain shuttered until Monday, September 14th. During that time, the office spaces will undergo the necessary sanitization procedures.
The Council mentions prior to this employee testing positive for COVID, they had already taken measures to reduce the presence of customers on the second floor. The 1st-floor cashier services still remain available.
As viewers are aware, this is the third City Council employee to test positive for the virus. Two weeks ago, the mother of the second COVID-positive employee, who was in her 50's, passed away from the virus. Back in April, the Council's well-known and loved employee, Hubert Pipersburgh, became Belize's first COVID-19 casualty.
