House Fire Started On Mattress

Tonight, a 55-year-old woman from Unity Street in Belize City continues to recover from burn injuries she suffered while trying to prevent her family's home from completely burning down yesterday.

Report to 7News is that a cement bungalow house unfortunately caught fire, and in order to put out the blaze, Elswith Powell and her neighbors had to use buckets of drain water to stop it from consuming the rest of the house. In putting the fire out, however, Powell suffered burn injuries. She had to be rushed by a responding ambulance for medical attention shortly after putting the blaze out.

The fire reportedly started from the mattress.
