If elections will be held - at the latest - in the first week of November, then today was the last day for new registration - for those voters who want to get on the list in time for the general elections.

As we've been reporting there's been a flurry of activity at the elections and boundaries offices and the numbers reflect that.

Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai says her Department has seen a little over 8,500 applications for transfers during the months of July and August.

And, from July to today, her office has received a little over 13,000 applications for new registration.

But, those are applications and Tamai stresses that they still have to be approved. First, they have to be investigated - to see if who is on the list actually lives where they have registered. On Wednesday, we showed you a small house in Pickstock that hd 15 people registered there - this is a safe house situation - a tactic freely employed by both the PUP and UDP.

As for today - what may be the last day - she says all offices have been busy - but staffers are obligated to attend to all persons who got into the line before 4:30pm.

Tamai stresses that she cannot say today is last day to register before general election but no date has been announced for the general election. 10th, but it was extended to to today because of the Public and Bank holiday.
