An 11 year old boy is recovering at the Southern Regional Hospital after he was bitten by a highly venomous Fer De Lance or Tommy Goff snake on Tuesday.

It was after 4:00 when Adrian Cus went to the river In Silver Creek Village when the snake sank its fangs into the boy's ankle. He was rushed to the PG hospital and then transferred to the Southern Regional. Today his mother told us via telephone that he is doing much better.

Voice of: Dorita Caliz, Adrian's Mother
"When he went to pick up a horse from across the river, and right there he got bitten when he was coming back home, and he got bit in the water."

"After that, my sister in law called me because I went to visit my mother and then I was staying there for overnight but then when I heard that, my sister in law called me and she told me my son got bitten, I told her to rush him to the hospital in PG so she did and then PG side sent me to Dangriga side."

"My son went with him so I didn't get into the hospital, I was feeling bad so I didn't get to see him so my son went with him and there was no bleeding in his mouth, just the swelling."

Reporter:
"Was he conscious the whole time, was he able to talk?"

Voice of: Dorita Caliz, Adrian's Mother
"No at that time he's not talking."

Reporter:
"From then to now, how has he been improving?"

Voice of: Dorita Caliz, Adrian's Mother
"Right now he is talking, he's good, his foot where the snake bit him, it's not really swelling but he's doing better than yesterday because yesterday his foot was swollen."

Reporter:
"Are you usually dealing with snakes, do you see a lot of snakes in the area?"

Voice of: Dorita Caliz, Adrian's Mother
"No I don't see any snakes around the area but I think maybe because it's dry season, they come to cool off in the water."

"My bra lee killed a snake."

Reporter:
"He found the snake?"

Voice of: Dorita Caliz, Adrian's Mother
"Yes he found the snake that bit my son."

She expected her son to be released this weekend.
