The BDF is celebrating 46 years of service this year, and today they commemorated it with an official Ceremonial Parade. Following the parade, the soldiers showed off their training skills with a display of their strength as well as a small simulation involving rescuing a hostage. Minister Henry Charles Usher was invited to give the keynote address and lead the ceremony. In his speech, he commended the soldiers on their unwavering bravery and dedication.

"In the crucible of adversity, members of the Belize Defense Force have demonstrated unwavering commitment, selflessness, resilience, and valor. Your sacrifices, seen and unseen, significantly contribute to the formidable strength of our armed forces."
"As I reflected on the message I wanted to deliver, the team of this year's BDF Day guided my thoughts, defending our nation for the six years of commitment and courage. Your commitment sets the highest standards of military excellence, discipline, and patriotism."

"These sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. They have left an indelible mark, a legacy that Belizeians can all be proud of. The BDF has a long and dedicated history of service to this great nation. That service includes answering a call across a wide spectrum of operations, which include everything from defending our territorial integrity, all 8,867 square miles of our jewel, to responding to natural disasters, such as the most recent hurricane to hit Belize in 2022, Hurricane Lisa."
"Through extended deployments, unpredictable circumstances, and harsh conditions, you have stood firm and inspired us all. As we celebrate this 46th anniversary, let us also celebrate the victories achieved, large and small."
"Belize is lauded as a tranquil haven of democracy, but these freedoms that we hold there could not have been achieved without sacrifice, without the selfless dedication of each and every one of you."
Tomorrow, the BDF will be hosting an open day at Price Barracks.
