Predictably, for the UDP leader Patrick Faber it's the opposite. He's fighting for his party to hold unto the 41 municipal seats which it currently holds. And while, as we said, conventional political wisdom dictates that his party could be swept, he says, not so; he predicts a come tuppence for the young Briceno administration.
Here's how he put it last Friday:
Hon. Patrick Faber, Opposition Leader
"On a daily basis and I can tell you especially in these weeks leading up to Wednesday's municipal election, I've been traveling around this country and what the Belizean have been saying is Mr. Faber, UDP leader, yes I am one of the people who voted for the People's United Party but I am sorry, because all the good works of the UDP are now discontinued. We see that planBelize really is no plan for Belize. But people are saying across this country that they regretted voting for the PUP and that on March 3rd they will send that first signal. I have no doubt about that."
