He's known as the UDP's staunchest street soldier, but now, Brian Yellowman Audinett wants to take it to another level - he wants to actually run for politics. Now, this may sound mighty strange - since Yellow -as he is called - is not exactly known for being a model citizen. In fact, many would refer to him as a political thug.

But, yesterday in Belmopan, Yellowman told us he's matured, and he's ready to make that transition from backstage to front and center in the next city council election:

Brian "Yellowman" Audinette, Aspiring City Council Candidate
"I will offer my name to be a candidate in the next municipal elections."

Jules Vasquez:
"But what got into you to want to be a politician? You are mixing up the ham and the hammer, you are the hammer, not the ham?"

Brian "Yellowman" Audinette, Aspiring City Council Candidate
"No absolutely not Jules, no, no, no that is not true, what happens is, we continue at all bases to support people. I have been supporting the honourable Micheal Finnegan for years and I have been going around in the constituencies countrywide, campaigning for people and asking people to support other people because the truth of the matter is you want to do good for people. Jules, I believe if I can go and ask for support for them, then I can go and ask for support for me."

"I see it as an opportunity to help people Jules, people depend on us who go to them and ask them to support people and so, and I believe that people out here understand and know that I have the ability as long as I am there to help them. And I am serious about helping people and so I have been around the city, and I have watched everything as it happened and people are suffering. I don't care what the PUP does I believe that the PUP doesn't have the interest of the people of heart, I believe some of even my very own people do not know what it is that people are feeling out here, so, therefore, I am putting up my name to represent those people and I believe that I will do absolutely good."

Jules Vasquez:
"Now, People will say but you can't run for politics, you have a spotty record, you have been brought up on criminal charges, you've been brought up on charges before the speaker of the house and all?"

Brian "Yellowman" Audinette, Aspiring City Council Candidate
"Yes, and there is nothing wrong with that. We all have pasts, no? And at those times when I was behaving in the manner in which I was behaving I was young, I was immature. I didn't understand what was going on and so I believe that I could be a part of everything but I have changed Jules. As you get older you change and if you can look at it a lot of people within this society have changed and have become high people within politics. I guess the truth of the matter is I got myself in trouble because of the United Democratic Party. I am a supporter and a party member of the United Democratic Party and every time I ketch for something it's because I fight for the benefit of the Belizean people. because at the time there was a Musa administration and they take advantage of the poor people, bro."

And the aspiring councillor is hosting a food drive over the Heroes and Benefactor's Day weekend on March 6th. Yellowman says he's going to feed the poor in order to offer the people in the city the help they need.
