Yesterday you heard from two Ladyville residents who have come to rely on Serrano's Bus Line every single day. But Serrano's last day on the road is July 14th since their permit hasn't been renewed. And in their place will be Central Transit, a fairly new bus line operated by the area rep's driver.
It seems like the usual political mischief - or straight out nepotism - but the Minister of Transport denied those claims today.
Rodwell Ferguson, Area Rep, Stann Creek West

"In everything, people will clamor and people will agitate but they don't know and understand the discrepancies that Serrano's has over the years. I'm not the transport board, I'm only the transport minister, and the board decides who should get permits and who shouldn't get. As a matter of fact, Mr Shaw, who is the president of the Bus Association sits on the Transport Board on their behalf and even Mr Shaw voted against Serrano's for negligence of his operation."
Reporter: "There are some people who are saying that the permit from Serrano's was taken away for political reasons so that a friend of the area rep is getting..."
Rodwell Ferguson, Area Rep, Stann Creek West
"It appears so to the general public but the board knows exactly the amount of complaints they have against Serrano's so they came to me and they said minister we've voted unanimously against Serrano's, that's their decision, not mine, so I don't interfere with their decision."
Reporter: "Sir but then what happens to the residents who live in Milpa and Japan, Serrano's is the only bus they could catch or else they have to walk all the way out."

"In every scenario, there will be a way to fill the gap so I can assure you that by the 14th of July, the gap will be filled."
