Last month the National Commission for Families and Children began holding consultations to consolidate the bill in which The Family Courts Act, The Families And Children's Act And The Married Persons Act will fall. The Bill has not been revised since 1990 when it was first signed. Today the Minister of Human Development gave us an update on their progress:
Thea Ramirez Garcia, Minister of Human Development, Families and Gender Affairs
"Yes, we are compiling the reports. The reports are being compiled just now. I want to report that we did a country wide, and more extensive an exhaustive consultation. And that would have been done with the Commission for Families and Children. They took the lead on that. I'm very proud of the work that they have done. They went from North to south, east, west. They consulted with the, not only stakeholders in the childcare sector, but also because it had that piece of legislation has a lot to do with elder care. They consulted also with, with help age for instance. And a lot of the other organizations that partner with us in the care of our elderly and also with people that partner with us, in the care for people that are differently abled because it has a lot the legislation has a lot to do with them as well. we're waiting on that to be compiled. And then we would have to go back and consult with the AG's office to see what, what were the recommendations, what we could adopt to what could be put in there. And then we would have to go back to the committee, the House committee on that."
