And the storm tracking slightly north is not good news for Dangriga because the initial forecasts were suggesting that it would land just south of that town.
Our news team headed down there this morning to see the calm before the storm and found that, for many the hours leading up to the hurricane are very much riddled with anxiety, as residents worked to secure their homes, businesses, and families from Lisa's approach.
Cherisse Halsall was at the centre of preparations in Dangriga.

"It's been two days since Belize got the News of Tropical Storm Lisa and since then the question on the country's mind has been when the storm will make landfall. That confirmation came this morning when the Chief Met Officer announced that, Lisa a Category 1 hurricane would land just south of Dangriga."
And that has sent residents of this town into a frenzy of preparation. One of them is Tim "Obeah Man" August, the owner a operator of Stone Krabb Grill located right on the Dangriga beach
Tim August, Chef and Restauranteur
"I tell you I just feel a little bit depressed because we had just gone through something a couple weeks ago when that little bad weather had passed through and we had. About two and a half feet of water here. We basically just mi di recover and here we go again as a small businessman it's kind of ticklish right now."

"Well, I can't do much but we are strapping down all the wood because you know we will get a lot of action out here, a lot of high winds so the idea basically is to get all the debris strapped I mean everything that --or perishable that is what I'm doing right now."
And just next door these men were securing the windows on the headquarters of their tour company.
Tour Guide, Island Expedition
"We are arranging up, getting ready for the storm it's gonna be a category 1 when it hits so we are just getting prepared."

"Hurricane is nothing to be played with a lot of us are close to the sea and it could. Be very dangerous and we need to take care to make sure we'll be safe and to take serious measures into this storm right now, big ups channel7."
And over at the CEMO building we met up with Dangriga mayor Robert Mariano who told us that the plan is to open shelters early starting at 6:00 PM tonight in the hope that people who live along the coast will be able to secure their families long before the storm surge.
Robert Mariano, Mayor of Dangriga

"What we. Wouldn't want to occur is for people to remain home especially in one of the old buildings and so on and during the surge of th storm people's roofs start flying off and they would call the NEMO building and requesting for assistance for public officers to go an assist them because things like that would also put the lives of the public officers at risk and so we are appealing. To the people of Dangriga to get into that proactive mood and move into these buildings or to move into highland to prevent any kind of danger to their lives or their families lives."
District coordinator David Cruz agrees but says that in his opinion hurricane plans should have been solidified months ago.
David Cruz, District Coordinator NEMO, Stan Creek

"Preparations for hurricane or whatever disasters is a yearly thing it's not only when disasters come you do preparations of giving false information."
And back on the Beach the Stone Krabb Man is looking forward to brighter days and hoping that the storm won't batter his Grill too hard.
Cherisse Halsall:
"What was your reaction this morning when the chief met officer said it will make landfall in Dangriga?"
Tim August, Chef and Restauranteur
"Mein. That was like a little dagger to my heart because I was just in preparation getting ready for this 19th celebration we were expecting it to have a good turnout."
"Everything works out an it's not as bad as, and we can still have a good 19th celebration."
"We look forward to that. It's something that small businesses in Dangriga look forward to to make that extra capital you know."
