Power is their business - but not political power! And that's why BEL has started to take down several political flags and signs from their utility poles all across the country.
These signs are all apart of the political pageantry that comes with the general election. But, BEL says that they were potential safety hazards that could have caused accidents, injured their linesmen, and caused blackouts.
The company says that the majority of these hazards are political party signage, such as flags and banners, which were installed underneath low voltage power lines. They were fastened to the utility pols with the use of sticks, nails, and staples, and these items violated their company standards.
BEL says that it has been in dialogue with all the political parties, and they have been begging for the mass parties to cooperate and discontinue these hazardous practices.
BEL says, quote, "We are safely removing hazardous attachments on poles countrywide in an effort to reduce the threats that may be exacerbated during the ongoing inclement weather, continuous rain and wind brought on by the effect of Tropical Storm Eta." End quote.
