The Chief Meteorologist's concerns about flooding in Belize was echoed by the National Emergency Management Organization and the National Hydrological Service of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
And, this evening, NEMO says a flood warning is IN EFFECT for the Cayo, Belize, Stann Creek and Toledo districts.
A release says the Mopan, Macal and Belize rivers are rising fast.
Communities along those rivers are notified that you must be on high alert and take action to save life and property.
Communities at greatest risk for flooding or who are experiencing flooding are Gales Point, Mullins River Village, Hope Creek, Sarawee, Sittee River, Monkey River, Bella Vista, San Pedro Colombia, Big Falls, Santa Teresa, Blue Creek, San Benito Poite, Crique Sarco, Sundaywood, and Conejo Creek.
More communities will experience flooding there as rains runn off the mountains and hills.
And NEMO says, quote, "DO NOT STAY IN YOUR HOME tonight if you know it is likely to flood during the course of the night. MOVE TO SAFETY, SAVE YOUR FAMILY, LIFE COMES FIRST!" End quote.
