And while those two men were stabbed, the first fatal shooting to happen over this weekend was yesterday, around 12:30 in the afternoon. 22-year-old Delroy Sankey's killers met him on Hercilett Moody Street and fired shots at him. Sankey was caught, as well as another man, Michael Gladden. But while Gladden is in a stable condition, Sankey is in the morgue. Today, Courtney Menzies spoke to his sister, who said that their family had warned him to leave before it was too late. Here is that story.
22-year-old Delroy Sankey's family was begging him to move away from Belize before death could reach his front door. But he didn't move fast enough, and death in the form of a bullet caught him in an alley off Hercilett Moody Street.
His sister, Doreen Welch, said that she had a premonition that yesterday would've been her brother's last day alive.

Doreen Welch - Sister of Deceased
"I actually get the vision before it happen. I was cleaning my chicken, started to cook and then I watch myself leave from the chicken, but I am still at the chicken cleaning, but I just watch myself leaving from the chicken, pick up my phone, and call my sister at states and I said, Kendra, they just shot up Delroy and he dead. I won't call my ma, you call my ma. And then I shake myself, like where did that come from? I didn't even know that would happen. And I leave it as that. And then I cook, sit down, eat, and relaxing when my baby said, ma something must happen because aunty Selma and everybody are gong back there. So I jump up and said where you going, that's my next sister, and she said they just shot up Delroy, he dead. So I remember what happened earlier, and I said my goodness, I couldn't believe it."
But while she was shocked, she wasn't surprised, since she knew her brother was no angel.

"All I was thinking about as my ma, because that's my baby brother, he's the youngest one, and he's the baby, and my ma will feel it. If my ma won't feel it for anyone else, he'll feel it for him. So I start think about my ma, and when I start think about she I cry. Yes it's my brother, and I love my brother, but my brothers are living a life that I cannot do anything. I talk to them but they don't want to listen. But all I do is think about my ma."
She had accepted that her quiet baby brother was involved in illicit activities, but still hoped he'd take the family's advice and move back with their mother in Mexico.

"The last thing I see he and tell him, Delroy why don't you go back with mama? Because he was living at Tijuana, my ma lives at Tijuana and he lived there and he come back, and I asked him why you come back to Belize for? Why don't you go back? I'm going back, but I'm not ready to go back yet. That's all he told me." And now, rather than him crossing the border, his mother had to come back into the country today to bury her youngest son.
