Elderly Man Knocked Down By Dump Truck

A man was knocked down and killed sometime around 6:30 yesterday evening in Santa Martha village, Orange Walk.

Truck driver Nelson Pech was filling a lot when he parked his truck on the shoulder of the road and went to speak to his brother. Shortly after he got back into his truck and moved forward slowly onto the road. But he didn't realize that Julio Flota was in front of the truck and had been run over.

Flota died on the spot and police are currently investigating it as manslaughter by negligence.
