While families were out enjoying the annual Christmas parade in the city, police had to respond quickly to an altercation on Albert street, after a confrontation erupted between young men who had beef.
Persons alleged that an assailant had pulled a gun, but ASP Smith says that those claims are false and no persons were harmed. She explained what had actually happened.
ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer

"In relation to the incident that unfolded near the ending of the Christmas parade on Saturday what I have been advised is that some report was made that a male person approached a group of individuals brandishing a firearm and that created a disturbance and police officers that were in the area responded and they were advised by persons from the police control room. A number of persons were detained in relation to this and interviews were conducted on them with a view to establishing what in fact occurred in that incident."

"So no gun was found at the scene?"
ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"No weapon was retrieved at the scene. I do believe what I have been advised is a knife was recovered but no firearm."
