And while Cayo saw gun violence today, yesterday, we told you about a high-speed highway shooting that left gang figures 37-year-old Hubert Baptist and 24-year-old Eric Frazer hospitalized. The wild shooting - which endangered other drivers -happened on the Phillip Goldson Highway. And while police have made no arrests yet, they have impounded a gold Chevy Equinox.

ASP Stacy Smith told us more via Zoom.

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer

"What we have established so far in the course of the investigation is that Frazer and Baptist were traveling onboard that Nissan Rogue from the direction of Ladyville to Belize City and upon crossing the bridge in that area, they were accosted by individuals who were onboard a grey in color Chevy Equinox and one of the passenger fired shots at the vehicle which caused the vehicle to overturn and the injury of both Frazer and Baptist. Frazer and Baptist are currently hospitalized in stable conditions."

Courtney Menzies:
"Do police believe, well assuming it is gang related, do police believe it is internal within the same gang or rival gangs?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"The investigation is still ongoing much like the incident that I reported earlier, we have retrieved some video footage and that video footage has provided some clarity as to the players in this incident and certainly it would want to appear from the information that we have so far that it is connected to some internal rift within that area being the area known as Back a Land."

"Our operations that are in place have yielded some success. What I can say is that we would have intercepted a vehicle last night that we believe may have been a part of an intended retaliation. But as you would know, the department's and the government's response to incidents as such is not solely police related in terms of operations, it is also intervention related and certainly the Leadership Intervention Unit and the other social partners are being engaged to see how we can address this situation."
