And with the upcoming 2027 Municipal elections, Earl Trapp remains the sole UDP mayor and SI/SE is the only UDP controlled municipality. It was rumored that he would be forced to face a convention but that talk has fizzled out.
Trapp said that by July the names on the slate will be launched:

"We just had a meeting on Monday as well and the last day for the applicants was last week Thursday so I believe by the end of July we should have the slate ready that will contest this election for the United Democratic Party."
"The people will decide who they want to serve them for the next 3 years, I'm open to that. We are not here to turn stone. I certainly am passionate to serve the community and I'm working on a succession plan as well because I cannot be here for eternity so we are working on a succession plan."
