Police in southern Belize are looking for a suspect after he allegedly sold a woman a mennonite house but never delivered it.
A Dangriga woman says she lost more than seven thousand dollars in a failed house purchase arranged through Facebook Marketplace.
Twenty-two-year-old Trina Ward told police she agreed to buy a Mennonite-style zinc house in Hopkins Village from a man identified as Ashley Ken Usher. Ward says she made cash and online payments totaling seven thousand, three hundred and seven dollars before he told her that the house was no longer available because the bank had repossessed it.
She told investigators that when she requested a refund, he allegedly made excuses before blocking her on social media.
She presented police with statements and payment records proving that she did pay the monies. Ashley Usher of Hopkins Village is being sought for questioning in connection with the investigation into obtaining money by deception.
