And when it comes to the councillors on his team, the mayor admits that he was initially a bit skeptical about them when he first entered office in 2024. But he said now he must confess that he has been able to work the best with this current council.
Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City
"This is a great team and they always say, what makes a great team? What makes a great team? A great team makes up of people of diverse characteristics not everyone on a basketball team will know to shoot, not everyone will learn to be a point guard. It takes a great team injecting each of their own personal characteristic to the team and I'll be the first to admit that when I was handed this team in 2024 I was a bit skeptical but I have seen the great work: the chemistry, the commitment of my team members to really drive in development in our city and being a part, a cohesive unit, I will go out on a limb and say this is the best team I've had in my 3 terms."
