In comments made earlier this week, the National Trade Union Congress of Belize expressed disapproval of government's court challenge of its own ombudsman.

But, that's not the only thing that the NTUCB is displeased with. In a special meeting last weekend they also discussed the Budna abductIon and government's casual flip flop on an independent investigation:

Ella Waight, President - NTUCB

"We actually felt disrespected that after that call was made, the Prime Minister said, yes, there would be one, and then that did not happen. And then now we're going to another level of debt. That, again, is good governance, not adhering to good governance, not adhering to promises that you make as a government."

"And we feel very disrespected. Our concern was just have an independent inquiry. We were hoping that independent inquiry could have involved civil society, even us. But again, nothing happened. It was a promise that was made, and it was just pushed aside with the power that government has, I guess, to just push something like that aside and think that nothing would happen, that no one will speak up."

"Well, the NTUCB is speaking up, and the NTUCB will take action. We are tired of being disrespected. We are tired of not able to meet with those that we need to discuss these issues with. We're tired of good governance just being pushed aside."

"Everything else takes priority. So we have, like I said before, we met as a congress, and the NTUCB is continuing to meet this week to decide on the way forward."

The NTUCB has called for a meeting with the Prime Minister but say they have gotten no response.
