Cops Nab Bakery Robber

Just after 5:00pm on Saturday, La Popular Bakery on Cemetery Road was robbed at gunpoint.

A few days later police managed to locate and detain the assailant, who was identified as former murderer suspect Lorenzo Smith.

Smith was released in May after 6 years on remand for allegedly killing his prison mate.

He appeared this morning before Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola and was charged for robbery. According to reports Smith stole $850.00 in cash from the establishment. He pleaded not guilty and was denied bail, and is set to appear back in court until November 22nd.
