Last night we told you about the land dealings involving companies affiliated with Roosevelt Blades who is the political officer for former UDP Leader, Patrick Faber. The companies have filed a lawsuit against the government of Belize for the enforcement of the 2020 purchase agreements. And now GOB has countersued the former minister of lands, Hugo Patt along with Wilbert Vallejos and Roosevelt Blades' companies for over 6 million with interest. We asked The area representative for the Freetown division for a comment on the matter today.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

"All the lands were transferred to a company and they did not transfer them to individuals so the parcels were not given out. These lands were acquired by the government of Belize for over 6 million dollars days literally days before the general election in 2020 they were transferred to a private company by a former Senator a UDP senator and you know so for a pittance really I think it was 30 odd thousand dollars so you know obviously the matter is before the courts and the courts will deal with it. But our commitment is to make sure that at the end of the day residents in our community and other Belizeans will benefit from those lands."
