And that everyday political cut and thrust is not the kind of thing that usually makes it into the Independence Day Addresses - which both major mass party leaders will deliver tomorrow in Belmopan.

But, in the present political climate - where the airwaves are being inundated with ads - topical political issues just might slip in!

Right now we are hours away from those speeches, so we asked the the Chairman of the September Celebrations Commission what he thinks should be the tone of the speeches at these ceremonies:

Reporter
"Given that tomorrow is the official day for Independence Day, the addresses at the ceremony, should they be overly political or in the current atmosphere, it is hopeless to wish otherwise?"

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
"Unfortunately I think it's probably the latter it's probably hopeless to hope otherwise. We would hope that the central message Coming from both leaders or political leaders tomorrow will be positive and optimistic. Obviously we know that the leader of the country of the prime Minister is the leader or the ship and so he will talk about his accomplishments and the positive steps that have been taking place and the leader of the opposition will. He will be critical of what he believes is going wrong in the country. So we have to understand and accept that some or that is a part of it. My hope is that the central theme at the end of the messages, the central theme coming out of those messages is that we have to work together as a people and nation to overcome challenges we have."
