And while the PUP will be making maximum political mileage out of this story - UDP Leader Shyne Barrow is kind of in a cute position. He has to stand by his deputy - but the persons on the other side of the deal are Patrick Faber loyalists - and the land transaction was - to hear them tell it - for his supporters in the Collett constituency.
Today we asked him what he thinks of the 6 million dollar misfeasance suit against his first Deputy Leader:
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"Well, again, I wholeheartedly believe in the former deputy prime minister, in the current deputy party leader, and he was just trying to help the people of Collet. And I cannot imagine that he benefited in any way, personally, from that transaction."
"I know Hugo Patt, I know his heart, I know his intentions, and that was presented to him as a transaction for the people of Collet, that the people of Collet would have gotten all of those lots. So I don't believe he did anything wrong or had any intention to do anything wrong."
"I know for a fact that he didn't personally benefit from that transaction."
Jules Vasquez
"You may, from my experience, be a little bit too eager in your defense of Mr. Pott, former minister, because there are many questionable transactions released from under his hand. But that aside, what would you say about the companies associated with Mr. Blades, who is the political officer for Patrick Faber?"

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I can't speak on that. I don't know Mr. Blades on that level, so I would not be able to speak on that."
Jules Vasquez
"But, either it is or it is not that the lands were genuinely for the people of the Collet constituency housing. Do you believe that was the case or was it a land grab?"
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I do believe that the presentation made to the minister was genuine. I do believe that the minister accepted it as genuine and that the former minister of education and the former minister of lands really just wanted to help the people in Collet. I don't know all of the other details but I do believe that it was genuine."
"I don't see how that transaction would benefit whoever personally. I don't see how it would benefit Mr. Blades."
Jules Vasquez
"Well all property is valuable."
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"No, I don't see how I don't see how that they would benefit from that."
Jules Vasquez
"The land is in the name of the companies."
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I'm just saying so if you want to amend it and adjust it that what I would call on the minister of lands to do is to give the land out to the people in Collet."
