A memo obtained by 7news shows four refusals sent by crown counsels to the police department for assistance in ongoing cases at the lower courts. We saw 7 of these yesterday.
The staff shortage has put a strain on the DPP herself who has been forced to do a kind of courthouse hop - trying to cover for her Crowns who are in charge of ongoing matters before the court.
Yesterday, the attorney general Anthony Sylvester - while refusing to accept that there is industrial action - said he will be meeting with the crowns this week. They are demanding a security allowance and better terms of work.
